KJ Motorsports 2012 Season Wrap Up By: Kenny Johnson Date: 10-27-12 Well, it has been quite a while since I have done a race write up. I guess I got lazy this year and I knew Coop was keeping most everyone up to date on Facebook. But I did have several people inquire about me updating my web site and doing these write ups. 2013, I will do it every week like I have in the past. 2012 was another great season and it completed my 28th year racing. We raced 47 times and got 21 wins. Some of our highlights were winning $3,000 to win at McCown’s Jackson County Speedway. Winning the Sarah Bond Memorial race at Skyline for $3,000 to win from the 12th starting place. Winning the very next night at Ohio Valley from the 11th starting spot and then again winning at I-77 for the preliminary race to the Hillbilly from the 10th starting spot. All 3 of those races were on a borrowed engine from Jason Canepari. By Jason loaning us his engine, he not only helped us win some money, but kept us alive in the AMRA points. When the season ended, we won the AMRA National points and the Road Warrior Tour points and we also won the McCown’s Jackson County Speedway track points. Winning the track championship gets us a new Coyote Chassis. The season could not have happened without the work that Tim Cooper and Chad Nelson did all year long. Although I get the fame, Tim and Chad deserve the credit. Jason Canepari and Todd Lambiotte also pitched in when they could. I also want to thank those that helped us along the way: K-Graphics, Coughlin Cars.com, GP&S, Balderson Construction, Zemba Bros., Octane Race Products, Poske’s Performance Parts, Out-Pace Race Products, Hypercoils, T&L Consulting, RAD, Billy Joe & Wanda Hammett, Bill & Patty Welch, Keyser Mfg., Shaw Race Cars, TSM Enhanced, Bazell Race Fuels, Hoosier, Aero Wheels, Wrisco Aluminum, Lubeck Community Baptist Church, WOC Designs, Willy’s Carburetor’s, KSE Pumps, Stock Car Products Pumps, KRC, Pit Products and Joe Schilling Enterprises, LLC. I want to give a special thank you to Billy Lloyd for building us great power and a winning combination. I also want to thank my wife for allowing me to follow my dreams. I want to give a shout to Jamey Adams for allowing me to drive his late model and also to Sean Schobelock for giving up his ride to allow us to race and then win the track points at Jackson. My racing has introduced me to some great people and in turn that gives me some great fans. I appreciate all the cheers and all of the conversations throughout the night; it means a lot to me, especially the kids that look up to me. At this time, we intend to have 2 complete cars together for 2013 season. So we will have a busy winter ahead of us. We are open for new opportunities of sponsorship for 2013. Friday we went back to McCown’s Jackson County Speedway and they again had 22 modified's. We set 2nd fastest time and that started us 5th in the dash and finished 4th. This started us 4th in the feature. We were able to take the lead on lap 3 and went on to get win #2 on the year. Saturday we had plans to race, but Mother Nature again thought otherwise. This week we plan to go to Jackson County Speedway and I-77 Speedway.

Friday we went to McCown’s Jackson County Speedway and they had 22 modified's. We set 6th fastest time with a started on the pole of the dash and won. This started us on the pole of the feature beside Mark Dickson. Mark took the early lead but we kept the pressure on most of the race and were able to make the pass under 5 laps to go and went on to get win #1 on the year. Update #2 Race #2 & #3

Update #2
Race #2 & #3

Friday we went to McCown’s Jackson County Speedway and they had 32 cars. We set fast time with a 14.68 and started 6th in the dash and finished 4th. This started us 4th in the feature. I didn’t keep up with the track and changes on the car and we wound up finishing 4th. I was real pleased with how the car drove, considering the damage we had gotten in Florence, Ky.
Saturday we went to Tyler County Speedway and they had 23 cars. By pill draw we were suppose to start 3rd, but the front row tacked the tail and we started on the pole. We wound up finishing 2nd to Roy Roush, last weeks feature winner, with no brakes. We changed a master cylinder before the feature, but apparently that wasn’t it either, for I had no brakes in the feature either. But we started 5th, faded to 8th, but came back to get a 3rd place finish. We was real pleased with the run.
This week we plan to go to Jackson County Speedway and Ohio Valley Speedway.

Race #1

Well a lot has happened in a short amount of time. Nov. 5th was our last race and we stripped the car down to the bare chassis and put it back together in like new condition and it was decaled on Dec.6th. We took it to the IMIS trade show in Indianapolis on Dec. 7th for the entire weekend. We were invited out to display the car in the Champions Hall for being the 2011 AMRA Champion. We picked up some product support such as Out-Pace, Hypercoils, Ultrashield, TSM Enhanced Shocks, Bilstein, Wrisco, Areo Wheels, Keyser Mfg., RCI, Aero, Hoosier, Wrisco, Bazell Race Fuels, Willy’s Carburetors, KSE Pumps, OTR Filters, Octane Race Products and Poske Performance Parts. We also have back on board again, K-Graphics, Coughlin Cars.com, GP&S, Balderson Construction, T&L Consulting, Bill & Patty Welch, Billy Joe & Wanda Hammett. For our first race we planned to go to Moler Raceway Park on March 16th, but they got rained out. Then we went to Florence Speedway on Saturday, March 17th for $1,000 to win. We didn’t make it thru hot laps before we totaled the car. It was a racing incident that we got caught up in. We got some frame damage on the passenger side. This past Saturday we took it to Chuck Stotts and we put it on his frame machine and he worked some pretty good magic. He pulled it back to where it needed to be and now we just need to put it together and we’ll be good to go. We plan to start racing again on April 6th at Jackson County Speedway on April 6th and then at I-77 Speedway on April 7th. Of course, that’s weather permitting.
