Race #2

Here it is, the last weekend of April coming up and we have only raced 2 times. That’s right, we got to race this weekend thanks to Joe Cox. With the weather cancelling all racing on Friday and looking like it was going to cancel everything within a 4 hour radius of us on Saturday, we decided to head south to County Line Raceway in Elm City, NC. We were talking to Joe Cox, driver of the #41, J&J Fabrication, Brett Hamilton Chassis and he was telling me that he was going crazy not being able to race yet and he was heading south. Coop jokingly said, tell him we’ll be down to put our car in his 2 car trailer and go with him. Joe said, bring it on down. Then we started thinking seriously about it and by 7:30 pm on Friday, we made it official. They had 21 cars and 3 of those were from WV, us, Joe Cox and Deena Groves out of Morgantown. We set fast time with a 16.3, which paid $100 and this put us on the pole of the feature. Down south, they normally do not run heat races, they just have practice sessions. With us qualifying on the pole, I was not complaining. They threw the green and outside pole setter, Eric Erwin, took the lead coming off of turn 2 and as we entered turn 3 I dove in under him and we raced side by side down the front chute. I took in deep into turn 1 and Eric took it in just as deep, but he ran out of real estate and caught the wall. We went on to lead the remaining laps to get our first win of the year ahead of track local racer Ricky Bohan. Joe Cox finished 5th and Deena Groves got taken out in that 2nd lap wreck. Tim and Chad were a huge help as always and I’d like to thank all of our sponsors. Also want to thank Joe Cox and his team for hauling us down and providing a fun time. Please take the time to go to www.jandjfabrication.net and check out Joe’s business. If you have a need for anything that’s on his web site, give him a call and tell him I sent ya!
This weekend is dependant of Mother Nature and can change at the drop of the hat. But for now, we plan on doing 250 Speedway on Friday and Muskingum County on Saturday, so we hope to see you there. To keep up to date on any race night, go to Kenny Johnson Motorsports on Facebook and Tim will provide updates as the night goes on.
Remember! To make this work, support those that support us!
Thanks again for your support, KJ
